I’ve been asked a lot of these questions lately since this site was published and since the World Cup Draw was finalized. To me, as a good citizen of this country, there is no other prominent way to show your love for this country and what it would mean for soccer in the USA than to be on the forefront of the quest for USA to beat England on the greatest stage in the world. People have asked me so many times, “can we beat England?” The answer to me is; definitely! There is no doubt in my mind that we will beat England on June 12 in South Africa if the whole country can rally behind our team and not be woozy about the prospect of such an endeavor. Without kidding myself, I know there are a lot of unpatriotic people out there when it comes to soccer in America. But one thing I also know is that there are a lot more of us patriots than those traitors.
The fact is that in England now, this game has been overlooked by many and counted as a sure 3 points for England. England and its supporters thinks we are not even worthy of the pre-game smack talk. You see, in many places, smack talk in soccer, is being worried about your opponent, and also a show of respect. We get no RESPECT! So, what do you do to someone who disrespects you? You kick their damned butts as hard as you can! That is what our boys will do to England in South Africa, and then, all the traitors will hang their heads in shame, move to England to drink more Tea.
There’s another big benefit to us “patriots” when we beat England. Our children will get the over due respect of their efforts and underrated talents in soccer by the rest of the world. All the pundits knows that this is the only country in the entire world that has more kids playing soccer but their opinion is so archaic that they refused to believe that America is a soccer nation with bountiful of talents. I will like everybody to also know that the future of soccer will reside in the USA. I strongly believed this country will be solidly a “soccer nation” judging by the huge numbers of people playing and supporting the sport.
We all know that the big businesses are exploiting the huge numbers of soccer players and fans in this country by the amount of profits they’re making on soccer but there support has been dismal when compared to other so called mainstream sports. We “soccer people” need to start calling out these companies whenever we see the disparity and fully get behind the businesses that respect and proudly support soccer. It’s a shame that we’re not seeing these companies out in full force already to show and rally the country in support of our boys for the world cup. All they’ve been doing so far is putting out advertising (disguised in lame support) to buy their products and exploit us again without sincere support of the sport soccer.
Let’s face it; the mainstream media is so scared of soccer and the potentials that they’re doing so little to promote it. But before I tee off on the media I would like to give my sincere appreciation to Fox Network, ESPN and Gol TV who are now at the forefront of promoting the sport here in America. I remember many years ago when we will get excited that a soccer game will be broadcasted and when it does we get frustrated, disappointed and left unfulfilled by the way it was broadcasted with ill-timed commercials and unknowledgeable announcers. The networks had a mentality then that they were doing us a favor by broadcasting soccer and unfortunately that mentality still exists today with the major networks and the ignorant executives. If this is not the case, why the media not, in someway, rallying the country about the World Cup and be at the forefront of the supports our boys needs to succeed in South Africa. At some point, the reality will set in with the mainstream media and they will realize that they missed the Bus. Go USA! Beat England!
